CT TU 50th Pin Design Contest

As we approach Trout Unlimited’s 50th Anniversary celebration, I was talking to a fellow NLC representative and commented on what a great idea it would be to have a PIN trading event at this year’s National meeting.  This is a long honored tradition at each Olympic Games where athletes and spectators bring pins from their respective countries and sell / trade them.  Why not do the same at our TU 50th Anniversary Celebration?  He agreed and also pointed out this would also be a fun event for the youth who are expected to attend this year giving them an opportunity to collect pins from those states in attendance.  We are hoping to gain the support of all states attending, as the more pins available will make for an exciting pin collecting experience. Imagine seeing children walking around with their fishing vests on meeting new friends and collecting pins from each other!

Here is what we are proposing.  Each state council to design a pin which:

  • Represents / reflects trout fishing and/or conservation.

  • Must incorporate a theme from your state...(we should know what state it is from based on the design)

  • Must incorporate the TU 50th Anniversary logo as-is (available at www.tu50.org) and or mention "TU's 50th"... "50 Years of TU"..."TU 50 Years". If mentioning dates, it must read “Since 1959” not 1959 – 2009.

  • Must incorporate the council name – “CT TU”.

Be creative!  In New Jersey, we have already come up with a great idea and are planning to use it as a fundraiser. Connecticut is offering a contest to its TIC schools to design the pin, as well as anyone else willing to give it a go.

Entries must be received by May 15, 2009, please contact Ed Albrecht or Ted L. Gardziel for questions.
